Details of Crucial Evidence That Was Allegedly Dismissed by ICC

Nyanza leaders have alleged that they gave crucial evidence regarding the 2007-2008 Post-Election Violence (PEV) which was disregarded by the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Kisumu East MP Shakeel Shabbir said that the leaders gave information that majorly targeted former police boss Hussein Ali to ICC.

Speaking during the Mashujaa Day celebrations, Shabbir disclosed that they presented postmortem reports of 87 people who were shot dead and photos of police savagely beating the public during the PEV which claimed over 1,300 lives and displaced over 300,000.

"When the police boss was acquitted, it was clear that our evidence at the ICC cases was not used. It is, therefore, not advisable to keep revisiting the issue by opening the secret envelopes. Let us move on," said Shabbir.

This comes amid fierce exchange of words between Jubilee and CORD coalition leaders in regard to who fixed Deputy President William Ruto in ICC. However, the Opposition has continuously reiterated that Ruto's allies were responsible for his troubles at the Hague-based court.

The ICC issued a statement warning politicians to avoid wrangles which would jeopardize the ongoing judicial process on Ruto and co-accused journalist Joshua Sang.

Jubilee Alliance members have, however, dismissed the statement vowing to continue with their prayer rallies.
