Details on How Moses Kuria Could Land at ICC

Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria could take the witness stand at the International Criminal Court (ICC), to testify in the cases against Deputy President William Ruto and Journalist Joshua Arap Sang.

This follows requests by Ruto and Sang's defense teams with reports indicating that Mr Kuria has accepted to be enlisted as a witness.

Details revealed of correspondences between Kuria and ICC defense lawyers point out that the Legal teams are set to meet with the MP on specified dates.

"I have noted the recent public statements where you indicated that you have some information relating to the case now at the ICC against Mr J Sang and H.E. W Ruto. I am interested in meeting you to request for an interview and possibly your agreement to be a defence witness for Mr J Sang or both Mr J Sang and H.E. W Ruto," read a message sent by Sang's lead Counsel Katwa Kigen.

Kuria responded to the message accepting to meet the Senior Counsel.

“I have no objection meeting you and the defence team of H.E William Ruto, however due to prior planned commitments I am only available on the 12th and 13th October 2015....Regarding your request for me to appear as a witness for the defence, I confirm hereby acceptance of the same. You may now feel free to list me as your witness,” he responded.

William Ruto’s defence lawyer Shymala Alagendra also wrote to Kuria, in a confidential email, asking to enlist him as a witness in the case.

"We would be grateful if you could let us know if you are willing to meet with me, on behalf of the Ruto defence team. I will be able to travel to Nairobi around October 26, if that would be convenient for you. "I would intend to meet with you along with Grace Sullivan, from Ireland, who is a member of our team," stated Ms Alegendra on behalf of lead counsel Karim Khan.

Meanwhile, the Gatundu South MP is set to meet with officials from the Hague-based court on Friday with regard to his remarks over the ICC cases.
