DP Ruto Offers His Helicopter to Carry Bandit Victims Shot in Laikipia

Deputy President William Ruto on Tuesday issued his helicopter to ferry a woman and her two children who were lucky to survive a bandit attack in Laikipia County.

The woman identified as Rose Kuraru and her children had all been shot by armed raiders and were recuperating at a Cottage Hospital in Nanyuki.

After landing in Rumuruti for a meeting to assess the security situation in the area, Ruto instructed his crew to airlift the victims to Nairobi for further treatment.

The two children had sustained leg and chest injuries while their mother was shot in the leg and shoulder by armed raiders who had invaded their home.

During the visit, Ruto issued a strong warning to those who had been invading private property in the region.

“The sanctity of private property and the right to life must be protected. Those breaching peace and causing deaths will face the law,” he stated.

The Laikipia region has of late been in the headlines following deadly attacks orchestrated by grazers, with the recent incident being the killing of a UK rancher who was shot by herders.

The government has, however, beefed up security in the area to ensure the volatility in the area is completely dealt with.
