Two Nakuru County officials' homes were raided at night by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) over claims of amassing unexplained wealth amounting to Sh20 Million.
EACC detectives on Wednesday morning stormed the homes of Finance Executive Ann Njenga and Senior Accountant Billy Kiprotich in Gilgil and Kiamunyi estate.
The Commission's Regional Officer Lunan Sadat, confirmed that they also raided offices of the two in what they claimed to be a nationwide fight against corruption.
“We had to do a search to seek relevant documents to help us investigate their unexplained wealth amounting to Sh20 Million. The two officers will be treated as innocent until proven guilty by a court of law. We call upon members of the public and the media to assist in exposing corrupt activities,” said Sadat.
Ms Njenga admitted that the detectives were on her trail but blamed competitiors who were against her appointment, since she had acquired her property long before joining the county government.
"They came to my home in Gilgil and checked on the documents but didn’t harass me. This is a public office and some people who are jealous over my appointment are behind my woes. I am very clean and ready for a lifestyle audit," she told the Star.
Earlier in December, similar raids were conducted in homes belonging to former Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru, sacked Planning Principal Secretary Peter Mangiti and other persons mentioned in the Sh791 Million scandal at the National Youth Service.
