Evans Kidero and Peter Kenneth in Bitter Exchange at Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK), Ruai

Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero and his rival in the upcoming election, Peter Kenneth on Sunday met at the Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) in Ruai where they bitterly traded barbs.

Mr Kenneth was first at the podium where he accused the Governor of doing little for a city in which he (Kenneth) had been part of since childhood.

The former Presidential aspirant highlighted Mr Kidero's failure challenging him: "show us your work and I will show you mine and the residents can choose who they want to empower to work for them".

"What we are competing for is who among us can deliver better services.now if you walk in Nairobi, you will find garbage and blocked drainage. It takes you at least two hours to move from one place to another," Kenneth noted.

When it was time for Kidero to speak, he seized the moment to mock Kenneth for his loss in the 2013 presidential race adding that he was now seeking a lower position instead of going higher.

"I want to advise you to be careful because you wanted to be the President but you have now come lower instead of going higher. Be careful because next time you might be seeking to be a MCA," Kidero said amid laughter.

The Nairobi Governor added: "We understand that you went to Murang'a and I don't know what happened but welcome to Nairobi. First, put your house in order before we start politics."

Mr Kenneth is facing opposition even from the Jubilee Party in which he has aligned himself with.

Gubernatorial aspirants in the Jubilee party including Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko have firmly stated that they will not accept someone who will be imposed on them.
