Former IG Kimaiyo Threatens MPs Over Monica Juma's Report

Former inspector General of police David Kimaiyo has threatened Members of Parliament asking them to reconsider a report on the rejection of Dr. Monica Juma, as nominee for Secretary to the Cabinet post.

Kimaiyo has threatened to open a dossier that he knows as a senior citizen and long serving government official The Standard reports.

The former IG has asked the Asman Kamama led committee to lead the nation in the best interest of Kenyans.

Kimaiyo maintained that he personally knows all the members of the Parliamentary Committee on Administration and National Security to be generally good leaders and hence their decision to reject Ms Juma's nomination was motivated by "certain greed and self interest."

He has further  noted that the Interior PS is merited to hold the post, adding that the President Uhuru Kenyatta would not have nominated her to serve in a position she wasn’t qualified for.

The former police boss now joins other Government leaders in defending PS Monica Juma whose nomination as the Secretary to the Cabinet was rejected by MPs on Thursday.

Ms Juma's nomination was rejected by 163 MPs with only 55 voting in her favour.

The rejection has continued to spark a wave of controversy across the political divide.

President Kenyatta last week expressed his disappointment with the National Assembly's decision to reject Ms Juma.
