Governor Risks Impeachment Over Sh109,000 Wheelbarrow

Members of Bungoma County Assembly are set to embark on a plot to impeach the Governor.

However, the bid to file an impeachment motion against Governor Ken Lusaka over corruption claims is reportedly set for failure .

Ndalu MCA Ben Namasawa (Ford-Kenya) presented the draft to assembly clerk John Mosongo, who said that the motion had not met the minimum requirement.

“I have only received the letter to that effect but unfortunately Mr Namaswa has not yet tabled names of at least 21 MCAs supporting his motion as required by law,” said Mr Mosongo.

The MCA managed to collect only 18 signatures in support of his motion. AMANI coalition affiliated MCAs led by Mr David Fwaro dismissed the draft calling it a “big joke” which would not succeed.

“Those crafting that motion are wasting their time. We are aware that they are trying to divert the attention of the assembly. We have the numbers and the motion will not succeed,” said Mr Fwaro.

The Bungoma Governor hit headlines after he purchased wheelbarrows at a cost of Sh109,000 each.

Governor Lusaka later defended himself saying that the ten wheelbarrows would not cause cancer since they were stainless and were meant for the food industry.
