Health Ministry Allocates Ksh 500 Million To Fight Cholera

The health ministry has set aside Ksh 500 Million to be used to fight cholera disease.

The ministry's principals secretary Khadijah Kassachoon announced that some of the money will be used to buy drugs and bedding for those affected

She added that portion of the funds will go towards public awareness campaigns which she says will enlighten the public on the disease.

While addressing health stakeholders from all 47 counties at a Nairobi Hotel, Kasachoon called on the county governments to work with the national government to eradicate the disease and prevent the occurrence of any more cases, The Star reports.

Kasachoon said that 11counties had been affected and urged counties to improve sanitation and hygiene promotion strategies to contain the outbreak.

Over 3,000 cases of cholera have been reported countrywide, with over 50 people dying as a result.
