Former Starehe Member of Parliament Bishop Margaret Wanjiru has reiterated that she is the best-suited candidate to be the running mate of Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant, Mike Mbuvi Sonko.
While staking her claims for the deputy governors' job, Bishop Wanjiru stated he had the much-needed experience in politics as well as in matters of mobilization to enable Jubilee party to clinch the seat in August from Dr Evans Kidero.
She further warned Sonko against giving the deputy governor job to the highest bidder adding that Sonko should instead consider loyalty and ability while selecting his ideal running mate.
"If it is about money, we already have enough for a serious campaign. He should also consider gender, church, grassroots networking and mobilisation ability. I think I will add value to his government, both technically and politically,” stated Wanjiru.
She further urged the Nairobi gubernatorial hopeful that it would be a mistake if he was going to ditch the members of "Team Nairobi" that was opposed to Peter Kenneth adding that his victory during the party was largely attributed to the teamwork they exhibited during the party nomination process.
“Team Nairobi should stick together in order to deliver Nairobi. I believe Sonko’s victory can largely be attributed to the teamwork we exhibited during our familiarization campaigns with voters,” said Wanjiru.
Last Month, Bishop Wanjiru had threatened to leave the Jubilee Party and vie for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat as an independent candidate if Sonko didn't appoint her as his running mate.
She claimed that she had signed an agreement with Sonko that if one of them won the nomination the other would automatically be running-mate.
