KTN's investigative journalist Mohammed Ali has declared that he will be vying for the Nyali Parliamentary seat during the August 8 polls.
Ali announced his departure from the media on Wednesday stating,"1st March 2017. Today I officially declare that I am in the race to be the next Member of Parliament for Nyali Constituency."
"I have stood up for you for over a decade, and used my voice to amplify yours. Now, I ask you to stand with me," part of his Facebook post read.
Speculations had been rife that the renowned journalist would join politics but he was yet to make it official.
The journalist has been a close ally of ODM leader Raila Odinga and it's not yet clear whether he will vie on ODM Party ticket.
