Jakoyo Midiwo Accuses Nyanza ODM Governors of Corruption

Gem Member of Parliament (MP), Jakoyo Midiwo, who is also ODM leader Raila Odinga's cousin, has blasted governors from Nyanza region of underperformance claiming that they had nothing to show for their 5 years in office.

Midiwo observed that governors from other counties had many flagship projects to boast about but decried that was not the case for Jack Ranguma of Kisumu, Cornel Rasanga (Siaya), Cyprian Awiti (Homa Bay) and Okoth Obado of Migori county.

He noted that the county bosses, who are all allied to ODM, could not account for the funds disbursed by the government for the devolved functions.

“Nothing has been done in the four counties where we brag of being Raila Odinga’s staunch supporters,” Midiwo lamented.

He added that the governors had let down all those who fought for devolution, therefore, did not deserve to be re-elected.

The National Assembly Deputy Minority Leader further alleged that the governors were involved in corruption and nepotism.

“We must lead by example and ensure equitable distribution of resources, not to turn the counties into an epitome of corruption and nepotism,” Midiwo alluded.

The MP was speaking at an education day held at Nyang'inja Primary School in Siaya county.

Midiwo's sentiments were echoed by his Awendo counterpart, Jared Opiyo, who expressed disappointment that Billions had been distributed to the counties yet residents of the region continued to complain over lack of development.
