Jubilee Nominations in Uasin Gishu, Nyeri, Muranga and Nandi Counties Delayed over Voting Materials

Tension is high in Uasin Gishu and several other counties where Jubilee nominations were set to kick off on Friday morning.

In Uasin Gishu, the residents have stormed the MV Patel voting centres demanding for voting materials to be availed for them to cast their votes.

The materials have delayed after it was alleged that some voting papers were stolen en-route to Eldoret town.

Earlier on, Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago and Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi demanded the cancellation of the primaries stating that there were plans to rig them.

In Nakuru County, the voting materials are yet to arrive even though residents have been queueing since 2 am in the morning at various polling stations.

"I was here from 2 am and up to now I have not voted because there are no nomination papers," a voter stated.

Nakuru County Jubilee returning Officer Mrs Jepta Rono, however, dismissed the claims stating that all ballot papers were distributed to all the polling stations on time.

Earlier on, the county election bosses in Nandi and Bomet postponed the nominations in the counties citing lack of voting materials.

The Jubilee Secretary General Raphael Tuju in a statement has, however, overruled the order by the county returning officers noting that all nominations will proceed as planned and no nominations have been cancelled.

"We wish to state that all primaries will proceed as per schedule provided by the party and urge all voters to adhere to guidelines provided by the party headquarters," the statement read in part.

Others counties affected by the delays include; Nyeri, Kiambu, and Mur'anga counties.
