Jubilee Party Offices in Ol Kalou Defaced and Painted with Raila Slogans

Angry residents on Friday paralysed business in Ol Kalou town, lit bonfires outside Jubilee Party offices in Nyandarua along Gilgil-Nyahururu road.

The supporters of Kaimbaga ward nominee Mwangi Nyaga allegedly defaced the offices painting it with Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) colours.

They complained against what they termed rigging out of their Ward nominee, threatening to support the National Super Alliance (NASA) flag bearer Raila Odinga if their candidate was denied the certificate.

The rowdy group claimed that there were fishy plans to rig their nominee out and called on President Uhuru Kenyatta to intervene or risk losing their backing.

“We want President Uhuru to intervene, otherwise we shift our support to NASA. We nominated Mwangi Nyaga and he was declared the winner, but the party wants to deny him the certificate”, a supporter, Lawrence Mwangi stated.

Another, Samuel Karari, called on Odinga to visit the area and give them an assurance, especially the youth, that his leadership would be different.

Nyandarua Jubilee Deputy Secretary General, Joseph Kariuki, however, dismissed the allegations stating that only President Kenyatta had been issued with the party's certificate.

"No other candidate has the certificate, and the information that prompted this demonstration is false and misleading," he stated.
