The immediate former Deputy Inspector General of Police Grace Kaindi has withdrawn a case she had filed in court to challenge her removal from office.
Ms Kaindi through her lawyer Jessie Oduor, told Justice Isaac Lenaola on Tuesday that Kaindi was withdrawing the case as she sought other avenues for redress.
Last week, the former IG filed a suit against the National Police Service Commission and Attorney-General Githu Muigai over the manner in which she was ejected from office.
She argued that the decision to have her out of the Deputy IG office was never put on paper, amounting to a roadside declaration against the law.
"I assumed office in 2013 and was given a five year contract that is to end in 2018," Kaindi said in a sworn affidavit.
She claimed that a Deputy Inspector-General cannot be fired without following due process, adding that the directive ought to be suspended.
The Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinett and the GSU Commandant Joel Kitili on Thursday, September 3, stormed Vigilance House in a bid to compel Kaindi's departure from office.
Her removal from office sparked public outrage with the Opposition as well as sections of the civil society terming her dismissal as unconstitutional.
The President issued a directive replacing Kaindi with Joel Kitili, the former General Service Unit (GSU) Commandant, who has since taken up the Deputy IG position in an acting capacity.
