Kalonzo to Meet Raila Over Coalition with Mudavadi

Wiper Movement leader Kalonzo Musyoka has issued a new demand regarding the CORD coalition's deadline of announcing its Presidential flag bearer.

Speaking in Nairobi after the party's National Executive Council meeting, Musyoka stated that the Coalition should not wait until 2017 for it to make the eagerly awaited pronouncement.

He disputed CORD leader Raila Odinga's stand for the candidate to remain anonymous noting that the selected person should be unveiled as soon as possible.

The former Vice President expressed reservations over some issues indicating that there was need to handle the coalition keenly.

“These things are very delicate. We are very clear that we cannot wait until May next year for Kenyans to know CORD’s flag bearer,” he affirmed.

Musyoka was speaking just a day after Odinga announced that he would unite with Amani National Congress (ANC) chief Musalia Mudavadi by February next year.

The declaration by the two leaders who toured Laikipia and Tharaka Nithi counties together, sparked speculations on which positions the former VP and his co-principal Moses Wetangula would occupy in the new arrangement.

At the same time, the Wiper boss disclosed that he would be meeting Mr Odinga on Thursday to discuss the statements made during the tour.

"I will meet Odinga tomorrow so that he can explain some of the things they announced in Laikipia," he stated.

Earlier reports indicated that Wiper party has been advocating for the flag bearer to be declared by the end of year.

On the other hand, their ODM counterparts are said to be insisting that the announcement be delayed until March 2017.
