Karachuonyo MP James Rege Shelves Re-election Bid to Campaign for President Uhuru Kenyatta

Karachuonyo Member of Parliament (MP) James Regewho was elected on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket, has shelved his re-election bid in the August polls.

While making the revelation, the legislator indicated that he would be joining President Uhuru Kenyatta campaign trail to ensure the Head of State retains his seat.

“I have sacrificed my political ambitions to ensure that President Kenyatta retains his seat,” he stated.

Mr Rege, who was serving a second term in Parliament, told a local daily that he would be leading President's Kenyatta re-election team in the Western and Nyanza regions.

The MP further emphasised that contesting for the parliamentary seat in the polls would not give him the much needed time to spearhead the President's campaigns in the regions.

“I am not going to defend my seat or contest any seat in Homa Bay because I need ample time to campaign for Uhuru,” he said.

He further reiterated that he was optimistic that the ruling Jubilee party would win the elections in August.
