Keter Reveals Persons Blocking Waiguru's Impeachment

Nandi Hills Member of Parliament Alfred Keter, has accussed the executive and the National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi of frustrating his efforts to impeach Devolution and Planning Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru.

Keter claimed that Muturi had been asking for more documents to substantiate reasons why CS Waiguru should be ejected from office, a directive that the Nandi Hills lawmaker said had no support from Parliament's Standing Orders.

The Legislator added that Muturi was intimidating lawmakers supporting the motion to impeach the embattled CS.

“I want to categorically state here and now that due to the interference from the highest office of the Executive, Mr Muturi has been a stumbling block to this motion and orchestrated a move to intimidate Members of Parliament on the same. This process of seeking to impeach the Devolution Secretary has met hurdles from the Executive and Speaker's office.” Keter said.

Keter further asserted that Muturi ought to allow free debate of the motion by members, as he had already exceeded the threshold of 88 signatures. He further indicated that he had collected 180 signatures from Parliamentarians who supported the motion.

Keter questioned why the Speaker wanted him to substantiate his reasons, yet other impeachment motions presented before the August House were not subjected to the same requirements.

He further termed the Speaker as the "worst speaker ever" accusing him of going against Standing Orders, by blackmailing MPs to withdraw their signatures.

The lawmaker has been on an onslaught to remove Waiguru from office after rampant corruption cases were reported in her Ministry.
