Nairobi Governor Dr. Evans Kidero has sued Kakamega Senator Dr. Bonny Khalwale for defamation.
This follows Khalwale's remarks that he (Kidero) run down Mumias Sugar Company.
Kidero said that his political counterpart’s accusations dented his image, Citizen News reports.
According to Kidero, Khalwale made the accusations during President Uhuru Kenyatta’s visit to Mumias.
He allegedly described Kidero as a “prefect to criminals who led to the collapse of the Mumias Sugar Company.”
Explaining why he took legal action, Kidero said he had asked for a public apology from the Kakamega legislator but Khalwale made clear the sentiments that he was ready for the legal action via a tweet.
Kidero now wants the court to restrain Khalwale from making further defamatory remarks pending a hearing of the case.
This is the latest of events surrounding a series of accusations and counter accusations surrounding the sugar company which has been brought to its knees.
