Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi Hints at Defecting Back to ODM

Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi, who is also an official in President Uhuru Kenyatta's Campaign team for Kisii region, has announced that he will support the re-election of his boss Governor James Ongwae who is running on an ODM ticket.

In what comes as a disappointment to the Jubilee Party, Mr Maangi, who has since defected from ODM to Jubilee, further hinted that he would be returning to the Orange party.

The deputy governor stated that despite past differences with his governor, he would rally his supporters to re-elect Ongwae.

“I urge you as residents from where Ongwae comes from to support him to recapture his seat,” Maangi said.

The deputy governor stated that after Ongwae’s tenure, it would be time for his Bomachoge people to take the mantle.

Maangi's announcement suggested that he had fallen out with the Jubilee team which he has been leading alongside former Chairman of the Constitutional Implementation Commission (CIC), Charles Nyachae and Kisii Senator Chris Obure.
