Larry Peckham and Denise Huitron: American Couple Arrested Over KRA Hacking Demand Their Seized Property

Two Americans arrested in connection with the hacking of the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) systems and allegedly fleecing Sh40 Billion have demanded they be given their equipment back.

The couple, Larry Peckham and Denise Huitron, claimed that before they are deported on Tuesday, Kenyan authorities should return the property seized from them at the time of arrest.

Peckham stated that the police should return their two laptops, five phones and documents that they seized from them.

He accused the flying squad and the Special Crimes Prevention Unit of failing to follow a court order that instructed them to return their valuables.

The Americans claimed that the court had ordered that they be escorted to their apartment to park their belongings but the police had not done so.

Pekham refuted claims that he was part of the hacking syndicate nabbed by the Cyber Security officers and said that they were arrested after they communicated with the main suspect in the case.

He noted that they had been released due to lack of evidence linking them to the crime but were detained over an expired visa.

The couple revealed that they had contacted the United States Embassy over the matter but were told that the seized property was being used to carry out investigations.

Pekham and Denise were arrested in a sting operation along with the alleged mastermind Alex Mutuku and 13 others.

The couple is set to be deported on Tuesday night.
