Machakos Govenor Alfred Mutua Accuses Kalonzo of Receiving Sh350 Million Bribe to Join CORD

Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua on Wednesday sensationally claimed that Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka was handed a Sh350 Million bribe to join the Opposition ahead of the 2013 election.

Appearing before the Senate Public Accounts and Investments Committee (PAIC), Mutua unveiled an explosive document that also linked Kalonzo to massive land grabbing in Machakos County.

In the document dated February 24, 2015, it is alleged that the huge bribe was privately delivered to Kalonzo through Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama.

“That it is alleged that as part of the deal to join CORD, he was bribed over Sh350 Million delivered through Senator Johnston Muthama,” read the letter in part.

Upon the receiving the colossal amount, the former vice president allegedly bought a helicopter at Sh200 Million.

“That he has bought Eurocopter B3, Registration No 5Y DKK at Sh200 million. The source of the funds is suspicious given that he has no known profitable business undertakings. As a public figure, he should account for the source of his wealth,” said the letter.

The said letter was written by Ndegwa and Ndegwa Advocates to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), National Lands Commission (NLC) and Commission on Administration Justice (CAJ) then copied to Governor Mutua.

As Mutua was making his submission to the committee, Muthama interjected demanding to know the authenticity of the letter.

“Who authorised Ndegwa and Ndegwa Advocates to write this letter? Who gave him instructions to write to EACC? We don’t want to be given documents collected from the streets,” said Muthama.

However, the committee accepted the documents adduced by the Dr Mutua and resolved to scrutinise them Thursday morning.
