Meet the Mt Kenya Foundation Funding Uhuru's Campaign in Central

As the country inches closer towards the August 8 Election, little is known about a group in Central Kenya that is pushing and funding President Uhuru Kenyatta’s campaign.

The group dubbed “The Mt Kenya Foundation”,  was formed at the height of the 2007 post-election violence.

On January 19, Kenyatta met the group of wealthy politicians at the Thika Greens Golf resort in Murang’a County where they held a closed-door meeting.

He later flagged-off a caravan of lorries which were donated by the group to mobilise young people to register as voters in 11 Mt Kenya counties.

On February 2016, the group met at Windsor Club and raised Sh52 million for Kenyatta’s campaign.
