Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar has stated that Governor Hassan Joho will be punished by the National Super Alliance (NASA) for allegedly forging his Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) certificate.
Mr Omar made the statement at a press conference today at Renaissance Center stating that NASA will not tolerate impunity and violation of the constitution once it ascends to power after the August elections.
“I can assure you that after NASA takes over, forgery will be one of the first matters that will go before our criminal jurisdiction. We cannot condone this,”Omar stated.
The Senator added, “If you have a degree acquired illegally that means you are a governor illegally. Forgery is forgery. If education and excellence are not important, why do parents run around? "
Omar further criticised Joho for requesting an order from the high court to stop his investigation and arrest.
Last month, Joho was summoned to appear before the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) over alleged forgery of his KCSE results slip.
The Governor, however, moved to court seeking to stop the state from charging him with forgery of academic certificates until his case was heard.
The Wiper Party Secretary - General is seeking to unseat Mr Joho in the August 8 poll.
