MP Dumps ODM, After Receiving 'Brown Envelope'

Likoni MP Masoud Mwahima has announced his move to the Jubilee Camp, days after he was seen carrying a brown envelope outside State House, Mombasa.

The lawmaker elected on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket, said that he had defected because his party was conspiring to deny him the ticket in the 2017 elections.

“I want to announce that next year, I will defend the Likoni parliamentary seat on a JAP ticket and I am telling my opponents, whoever they will be, that I will win early in the morning,” Mwahima was quoted by the Nation.

Mwahima was dubbed a rebel after the photo made rounds on social media with some saying that he had been 'bought' by Jubilee.

According to ODM Alert Media, Mwahima was given a handsome amount to ferry youth to a meeting President Uhuru Kenyatta would be holding in Likoni.

However, the Likoni MP denied the allegations citing that the envelope contained job seekers' certificates.

“I have heard rumours that I received money from the President. The envelope I walked out with contained the certificates of my supporters," Mwahima said.
