Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has cast his net wider and extended his hunt for popularity to President Uhuru Kenyatta's stronghold.
Mutua on Thursday said that he would be meeting aspirants from Mt Kenya region to welcome them into his Maendeleo Chap Chap Party.
Speaking at his Machakos office, the governor said that he had extended his influence to the vote-rich region which is the President's backyard.
According to Mutua, he would meet the aspiring candidates in his Party's Lavington offices adding that he was ready to traverse the country popularising the party.
“We will comb every corner of this great nation and popularise our party and which strives to end poverty and injustice in society,” Mutua stated.
In a bid to expand his reach, he is set to receive the leaders from Nyeri, Murang'a, Embu, Nakuru, Kirinyaga, Embu, Meru and Nyandarua counties.
Mutua has in the recent past been holding meetings in different regions as he seeks to expand his influence outside Machakos region.
He previously added that Maendeleo Chap Chap would field candidates in all other positions apart from the presidential, but is yet to disclose who he would endorse for the Head of State's position.
