Mudavadi Forced to Cut His Speech Short in Mumias, Kakamega County After Criticising Uhuru's Projects

Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi on Sunday faced rejection from a section of youth in Mumias, Kakamega County after criticising President Uhuru Kenyatta's projects.

Speaking in Mumias town, Mudavadi claimed that President Kenyatta launched fake projects during his recent tour in the Western region, where he was accompanied by his deputy William Ruto.

“The projects are not reflected in the national budget and will not take off. Let the president desist from playing divisive politics with the people of Western region. It is wrong for the Head of State to lie to Kenyans in the name of launching projects when in real sense it is mere public relations,” Mudavadi stated.

However, his remarks seemed to have irked former ODM national youth leader Rashid Mohammed and politician Stanley Livondo who mobilised the residents and started protesting against the ANC leader.

A section of the youth were heard chanting, pro-Jubilee slogans, while others attempted to hurl stones at the ANC leader compelling him to cut short his speech.

This forced anti-riot police officers to move in and calm the angry youth and also prevent a confrontation between Mudavadi's followers and supporters of Livondo and Mohammed.

“The president launched genuine projects that will benefit our people. There is no way a road worth Sh1.16 billion that is under construction will be a fake project from the president,” Rashid was heard saying.

The Head of State and his deputy Ruto toured the Western Region last week and launched different projects as they campaigned for Jubilee.

During the tour, Kenyatta and Ruto commissioned different projects that included: roads, launched Sh2 billion water project in Mumias, commissioned the opening of Panpaper mill (now Rai Paper) and launched medical equipment at the Kakamega and Busia county referral hospitals.
