Nairobi MP 'Scares' Truck Driver With Panga

A truck driver has accused Embakasi South MP Irshad Sumra of assaulting him for failing to give him way on the road.

Charles Mwangi claimed that on December 9, the MP slapped him and was also roughed by Sumra's aides leaving him with bruises and scars to show for it.

Mwangi alleged that a navy blue Land Cruiser V8  drove past him and began hooting. The MP's car then blocked his while attempting to squeeze through. When it managed to overake his truck, the occupants rolled down their windows and began hurling insults at him.

“Wewe utatuona! (we will deal with you!)”, Mwangi reportedly told the Standard.

According to the truck driver, he was shocked to realise that the Land Cruiser had followed him to his work place near Likoni Road.

“I realised the car had followed me to my destination and as I began to reverse in preparation to offload my cargo, I noticed the driver was of Asian origin,” he narrated.

Mr Sumra and two men are said to have exited the vehicle with a whip and a machete then started banging his door.

Mwangi claimed that the men pulled him out of the car and forced him to apologise to Mr Sumra. The MP allegedly slapped him not knowing that the victim's workmate was recording the incident.

Mr Mwangi reported the matter at Industrial Area Police Station claiming he feared for his life.

OCPD at the station, Nehemiah Langat, reportedly confirmed that Mwangi recorded the incident under OB 17/10/12/2015.
