Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko Reveals He Wants a Businessman as His Deputy

Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko on Wednesday revealed who he wants as the Deputy Governor if he emerges victorious in the forthcoming elections.

Speaking during an interview with journalist Jeff Koinange on Citizen TV, Sonko stated that he wants a technocrat who will be an office person with a PhD.

"I will be a ground governor but my deputy has to be qualified. He has to be a technocrat who will be vetted by the corporate world.

"He should jointly work with me...experienced, from the corporate world and he has to be a PhD holder," he revealed.

When asked whether he would like businessman Jimnah Mbaru as his deputy, Sonko stated that it was up to the corporate world to decide.

"We need an investor but the President will also chip in. I had proposed Jimnah Mbaru, Bishop Margaret Wanjiru,  Dagoretti South MP Dennis Waweru," the Senator stated.

Sonko also cleared allegations that he had contacted billionaire Chris Kirubi by saying it was only a proposal and he wanted him as an economic advisor to the county.
