Nakuru Town East Member of Parliament (MP) David Gikaria reportedly sustained neck injuries on Monday evening after being attacked during a Jubilee meeting.
The MP was injured after apparently engaging in a physical fight with supporters of his rival during the election of County Board officials.
Trouble started after Gikaria differed with his competitor Benson Mwangi over representatives to the Board with each side supporting their own leading to a heated argument.
The situation escalated for the worst after the two groups turned the meeting into a wrestling match, a fight the left the lawmaker nursing bruises as reported by the Nation.
Police officers were forced to intervene to restore order after which the elections continued successfully.
Speaking during the function, Jubilee's National Elections Board Vice-Chairperson Vesca Kangogo directed the rival groups to present names of their preferred candidates to the Board in an attempt to calm things down.
She further promised that the upcoming Jubilee nominations would be free and fair since they would be conducted by officials from outside the county.
In December, a similar confrontation was witnessed in the same area after leaders differed during the election of Jubilee officials.
