Nzioka Waita Reveals Police Housing Project Was Awarded to Uhuru's Sister Nyokabi Muthama

A senior State House official on Thursday sparked an online storm after he mistakenly exposed a multimillion tender that had been awarded to President Uhuru Kenyatta’s sister.

Trouble started when Kenyatta’s spokesman Manoah Esipisu posted photos of the multimillion security equipment for the National Police Service.

However, one Twitter user accused the President of having misplaced priorities by focusing on police vehicles while officers were living in deplorable conditions.

“What about police houses? They live in shanties and drive brand new vehicles. They deserve better!” the user complained.

However, State House Deputy Chief of Staff Nzioka Waita did not take the accusation lying down.

Waita responded with a photo of an ongoing housing project meant to build 100 houses for prison and police officers in Kamulu.

Unfortunately, a hawk-eyed observer noticed that the contract had been awarded to Koto Housing Kenya - a company whose Executive Chairman is Nyokabi Muthama.

Ms Muthama is the younger sister to the President and was recently the subject of national attention after another company where she is a director, Sundales International, was linked to the Sh5 Billion Afya House Scandal.

A spot check by Kenyans.co.ke established that the police housing project was to cost a total of Sh1.4 Billion.

It is not, however, clear if Koto Housing got the entire tender or the Kamulu phase alone.
