Over 130 Employees Sue Bank for Wrongful Retirement

More than 130 former employees of National Bank of Kenya are suing the bank for what they termed as wrongful retirement.

The workers claim that they were sacked without due process and payment of their terminal dues, The Nation reports.

The former employees have filed five different suits some together others individually, asking the court to order the bank to pay them damages for the irregular retirement.

They are also seeking compensation for discrimination by the bank.

The suits come even as six other employees were reinstated last week by the Industrial Court.

The court ordered that the employees remain at work until their case is heard next week.

They had also moved to court to challenge the banks decision to send them o early retirement against their will.

The bank has however defended itself saying all the employees applied for voluntary retirement back in 2014.

The bank added that the employees accepted the terms of the retirement set out for them.
