A man suspected to have been in the process of conning an M-Pesa agent in Donholm, Nairobi, was mercilessly beaten by an irate mob in front of his 'mother'.
The woman who claimed that the suspect was his son, effortlessly tried to have him spared from the mob that was baying for his blood. She later said that the suspect was her nephew.
Residents threatened to subject the woman to the same punishment as they accused her of acting as an accomplice to the man who was identified as Dominick.
The suspect was rescued by police officers moments before residents attempted to set him ablaze.
According to the M-Pesa agent, Dominick came into her shop and pretended seeking assistance to unblock his Safaricom line.
The agent claimed that it was during that time that the suspect tried to manipulate her work phone system.
The suspect allegedly tried to have money transferred to his phone fraudulently before the agent noticed and raised an alarm.
