Police Vetting Turns Chaotic

Drama was witnessed at the National Police Service Commission headquarters, during the fresh vetting of Senior Deputy Commissioner Of Police Francis Okonya.

The vetting which had been made possible by the courts saw a heated exchange of words between Okonya and NPSC chair Johnston Kavuludi.

An agitated Okonya accused the panel of harassment following a line of questioning he found hard to follow, K24 reports.

According to Citizen Tv, Okonya was required to present documents accounting for 3 million shillings deposited in his account. Instead, according to board chair Johnstone Kavuludi, Okonya opted to table a dossier irrelevant to the vetting process that involved a housing project in Ruaraka.

A combative Okonya felt that he was not being given a fair chance to be vetted.

A few minutes into the argument, the chair asked Okonya to switch off his microphone but a determined refused.

Okonya finally left with the chair declaring him a hostile interviewee.

It was the 4th time Okonya was being vetted after a successful appeal to the courts granted him a second chance at getting his job back.
