President Uhuru's Plan To Protect You From Land Conmen

President Uhuru Kenyatta has barred registration of all land-buying companies until Members of Parliament pass a law to monitor such entities.

The President ordered all existing land companies to register afresh with the Ministry of Lands before carrying out any business.

Kenyatta further directed that those firms would have to show the location of the land they were acquiring, the directors involved and a clear succession plan for the company as part of the clearance process.

The new directives are aimed at reducing land woes ensuing among property companies. Mr Kenyatta added that the regulations would assist to identify directors to be held accountable in cases of land hoax that have been arising in the country.

Cases of  buyers being duped to purchase non-existent property are reportedly on the rise in Kenya with about 7000 cases of fraud registered in court.

The new policies follow the mysterious killing of eight directors of the controversial Kihiu Mwiri company over wrangles in land allocation to shareholders.

Last week residents of Kitengela in Kajiado county also engaged in a serious scuffle over land which reportedly left two people dead and several others injured.
