Professor Makau Mutua Slams President Uhuru Kenyatta's Airport Entourages

United States-based law lecturer, Prof Makau Mutua on Thursday slammed President Uhuru Kenyatta’s entourage for escorting him (Uhuru) to and from the airport whenever he is travelling.

According to the outspoken law professor, it made no sense that long entourages normally escort President Kenyattta to the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) when he is travelling.

It makes zero SENSE for THRONGING HORDES of ministers, military chiefs, bureaucrats, and apparatchiks to rush to JKIA to see Uhuru off.

Prof Mutua argued that it was nonsensical for the government officials and security personnel to rush and line up whenever the President was leaving or jetting in.

His comments came hours after President Kenyatta flew out of the country on Wednesday accompanied by First Lady Margaret Kenyatta to the United Kingdom to attend the 3rd London Conference on Somalia.

According to State House Spokesperson Manoah Esipisu, the conference would focus on accelerating the progress of security reforms in Somalia and the underlying causes of instability such as famine, piracy and terrorism.

Esipisu added that the conference would also focus on building on new international partnership needed to keep the Horn of Africa nation on course for increased peace and prosperity.

President Kenyatta would after the London conference head to Beijing, China, to attend the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation.
