CORD leader Raila Odinga was captured on camera seemingly getting some lessons from Meru Governor Peter Munya on how to chew miraa.
The scene was caught in Meru where the former Prime Minister was the chief guest during the closure of the Annual Devolution Conference.
Odinga and Munya were sampling Meru's major cash crop at an exhibition at the conference and from the picture, Governor Munya seems experienced in chewing the khat.
Mr Odinga closed the three-day conference in the county which President Uhuru Kenyatta, his Deputy William Ruto and Senators conspicuously snubbed.
During the closure, the Opposition Principal urged Kenyatta to fully embrace devolution and stop unhealthy wars with the Governors.
“I appeal to the national government to end this unhealthy war. Let President Kenyatta give governors their rightful roles. He should accept that they are the chief executive officers of counties.” Odinga stated.
Elsewhere, President Kenyatta announced a Sh1 Billion allocation to miraa growers as a shock absorber after the crop was banned in the United Kingdom.
Assenting into law a bill that categorise miraa as one of the cash crops in the country, Kenyatta highlighted: “This historical law we have signed today gives miraa the legal backing as a cash crop. It also gives the crop recognition in formal government structures”.
