Raila Demands Release of Moses Kuria

CORD leader Raila Odinga has given the government 24 hours to release the six leaders detained at Pangani Police Station.

Speaking at the station, Odinga demanded the release of Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria,  Ferdinand Waititu (Kabete), Kimani Ngunjiri (Bahati), Machakos Senator Johnson MuthamaSuna East MP Junet Mohamed and Timothy Bosire of Kitutu Masaba.

Accompanied by his co-principals Moses Wetangula and Kalonzo Musyoka, Odinga highlighted that they had been denied access to see the leaders after they waited for more than three hours.

The Opposition heads mentioned that there would be consequences if their demands were not met, stating that the move by police was unconstitutional.

The former Prime Minister noted that the release of the six was based on the law and not the coalition the accused leaders belonged.

On his part, Kalonzo expressed that the leaders were suffering at the police cells mentioning that they had only been offered one meal.

Heavy security was deployed at the police station on Thursday morning as Odinga and other Opposition leaders arrived to see the alleged hate mongers.

It is reported that the anti-riot police at some point lobbed teargas to disperse the huge crowd that had flocked the station demanding the release of detained CORD leaders.

The Opposition chiefs indicated that they would provide a comprehensive statement on the said consequences in their formal address.

After being denied access at Pangani, the leaders headed to Muthaiga Police Station where Busia Women Rep Florence Mutua and her Kilifi counterpart Aisha Jumwa are locked up.
