Hundreds of commuters were left stranded in Mombasa on Wednesday morning after another "MV Likoni" ferry stalled making it hard for them to cross from the mainland to the island.
The congestion at the mainland caused chaos as commuters scrambled to board the available ferrys.
This crisis comes in the wake of another incident that occurred on Tuesday after the biggest and oldest ferry in Mombasa named 'MV Nyayo' broke down with passengers on board and was pushed towards the deep sea by heavy tides in the Indian Ocean.
Speaking to kenyans.co.ke on phone, a worker from Kenya Ferry Services confirmed that the heavy current at the sea caused the ferry to breakdown. She, however, added that no one was hurt in the incident.
This prompted the ferry operations at Likoni and the newly-launched Mtongwe Channels to be suspended following an overflow of water caused by heavy rains which has left hundreds of residents stranded.
