Ruiru OCPD Dismisses Claims of Attempted Assassination on Nominated MP Isaac Mwaura

The Officer Commanding Police Division (OCPD) in Ruiru, Mr Isaac Thuranira, has dismissed claims that there was an assassination attempt on Nominated Member of Parliament Isaac Mwaura.

According to Mr Thuranira, drama ensued in Githurai Kimbo after supporters of Mwaura and his opponent Simon King'ara clashed in the area.

The OCPD explained that Mwaura had gatecrashed on King'ara's event where he (King'ara) was launching a boda-boda shed causing the rival groups to clash.

"When supporters of King'ara spotted Mwaura and his team, a confrontation ensued between them resulting in stones being pelted at either camp by the supporters of the politicians,"Thuranira stated.

The police boss in Ruiru further noted that Mwaura could have been hit by a stone during the commotion as no gunshots were fired.

"I think a stone struck Mwaura on the ear hence the bruise. I can confirm that there was no bullet used by the camp which was protesting Mwaura's presence at King'ara's event," the OCPD stated.

The nominated MP had recorded a statement at Ruiru police station claiming that there had been an assassination attempt against him where his car was sprayed with bullets and his ear injured.

Mr Mwaura is vying for the Ruiru Parliamentary seat and will face off with King'ara.
