Ruto Now Announces Anti-Corruption Classes

Deputy President William Ruto has said all government officials will have to attend continuous training on ethics and integrity in an effort to fight corruption in the country.

In a speech read on his behalf by Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) Chief Executive Officer Halakhe Waqo, the DP said the same would be applied across all education systems in the country.

“The government, through the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology will also ensure that values are being taught at every level of our education system,” said Mr Ruto.

He further affirmed that the government led by President Uhuru Kenyatta, was ready to support the EACC and other enforcement agencies to root out the vice.

Mr Waqo was speaking during the World Anti-Corruption Day in Nanyuki, where various leaders condemned rampant graft in the country and expressed hope that the vice would be eliminated completely.

“We are ashamed of corruption as Kenyans. Wherever you go across the country you feel ashamed because of the vice...We can win this war because God cannot just forsake us,” said head of Anglican Church Rt Reverend Eliud Wabukala.

Court of Appeal Judge Roselyn Nambuye, said it was necessary for every Kenyan to join in the fight gainst corruption. She further stated that one of the loopholes in the EACC was the denial of prosecutorial powers as an institution.

“No matter what efforts it puts into investigations, the DPP can exercise his discretion and terminate a case,” the Judge said.
