Ruto 'Reveals' Why Jirongo Accused Him of Murder

Deputy President William Ruto on Saturday apparently revealed why former Lugari Member of Parliament Cyrus Jirongo has been attacking him.

Speaking in Kakamega during the burial ceremony of former Housing Minister Soita Shitanda, Ruto said that Jirongo was a bitter man following his (Ruto) success.

According to the DP, Jirongo could not accept the fact that he had risen to his current position, despite the two kicking off their political careers together.

"Sasa anakasirika na mimi anaona huyu ambaye alikuwa mtu wangu wa mkono alipitia wapi mpaka akawa makamu wa raisi. My friend ni kujipanga,"said Ruto

The speech loosely translates as: "He is bitter with me, wondering how I moved from being his assistant to become the deputy president. It is a matter of planning my friend."

Last month, during the burial of controversial businessman Jacob Juma, Jirongo narrated to mourners how Ruto murdered a young man who attacked them at a political rally in the Moi era.

Ruto and Jirongo are known to have entered the Kenyan political scene at the same time in 1992, when they spear-headed the re-election of retired President Daniel Moi.
