Ruto's Lawyer Awarded Government Job

A lawyer formerly representing Deputy President William Ruto at the International Criminal Court (ICC) has been awarded a senior position at one of the country's parastatals.

Lawyer Katwa Kigen has been appointed Chairman of the Unclaimed Financial Assets Authority Board on a three-year term, meant to take effect from February 2016.

Kigen, who represented DP Ruto in his ICC case, was awarded the job among other government appointees whose names were gazetted on Friday.

The prominent lawyer now represents radio journalist Joshua Sang, having previously acted as Ruto's attorney at the ICC with the help of Majority Leader in the Senate, Kindiki Kithure.

In the same notice, President Uhuru Kenyatta appointed former Police Commissioner Mathew Iteere to head the Nyayo Tea Zones Development Board.

Former Minister Franklin Bett was also appointed as Chairman of the Agricultural Finance Coordination board.

Equity Bank CEO James Mwangi has also featured in the list and is tasked with heading the Kenya Vision 2030 Delivery Board.
