Senator Muthama Warns That There Would Be No Elections if IEBC Goes Ahead With Appeal

Fiery Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama on Sunday issued a warning to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) that there would be no elections if it would not withdraw an appeal on vote tallying at the High Court.

Speaking at a National Super Alliance (NASA) rally at Afraha Stadium, Nakuru County, the senator warned that Kenya would not hold the general elections in August if IEBC did not fulfill their demands.

Kura zitahesabiwa katika kituo cha constituency pekee yake, wakijaribu kubadilisha hiyo mimi nasema kenya hakutakua na uchaguzi tena, kama Nkaissery una pingu njoo unichukue sasa,” warned Muthama.

This loosely translates to, votes will be counted at the constituency level alone, but if they change it, there would be no elections. Nkaissery can arrest me if he wants to.

Senator Muthama also took issue with Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaiserry and cautioned him against interfering with the electoral process.

His sentiments echoed those uttered by NASA co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka who also warned that they would not accept the appeal being sought by IEBC.

Iliyobaki ni sisi tuwaeleze wana IEBC tulipigwa teargas na Nkaisserry lakini tulisema IEBC must go, walienda hawakuenda...tunawauliza ile appeal kama akina kina NASA watoe mara moja," cautioned Kalonzo.

This loosely translates to what has remained is us telling IEBC that they must withdraw their appeal. we were teargassed by Nkaissery and the other commissioners left.

Kalonzo revealed that NASA would lead Kenya into a Unga revolution where they would go to the streets countrywide and oust Jubilee from power if they do not lower food prices.

The NASA brigade called on Kenyans to stand with the opposition outfit to bring the much-needed change in the August 8 polls.
