Somalis are Happier Than Kenyans - Report

A report on World Happiness has shockingly revealed that Somalia citizens are happier compared to Kenyans.

According to the report carried out by Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN), Kenya was ranked position 15 in Africa while her war-torn neighbour, Somalia, was placed fourth in the continent.

Interestingly, Kenya was still ranked the happiest in East Africa after taking position 122 out of the total 157 countries ahead of her peers.

South-Sudan, Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda were ranked 143, 146, 149, 152 respectively, with Burundians being the saddest people in the world at position 157.

The study was done in the years 2013, 2014 and 2015 with the outcome being averaged across the years to come up with the happiness index.

According to the data, Kenya's happiness had reduced since the last study was conducted covering 2005-2007.

African countries that ranked ahead of Kenya from position one was Algeria, Mauritius, Libya, Somalia, Morocco, Tunisia, Nigeria, Zambia, Sierra Leone, Namibia, Cameroon, Etiopia, South Africa and Egypt in that order.

The report was based on asking the citizens of each country on their satisfaction with their country's Growth Domestic Products (GDPs), social support, healthy life expectancy, freedom to make life decisions, generosity perceptions of the citizens and corruption perceptions all in the scale of 0-10.

The survey also listed the top 10 happiest countries in the world, with Denmark coming first, followed by Switzerland, Iceland, Norway, Finland, Canada, Netherlands, New Zealand, Australia, and Sweden respectively.
