Sonko Claims Jubilee Asking for Sh7 Million Over Chaos Witnessed at Bomas of Kenya

Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko now claims that Jubilee Party is demanding Sh7 Million as fine for destroying property during recent chaos witnessed at the Bomas of Kenya.

Speaking during an interview on Radio Maisha, Sonko stated that he had been blamed for the wrangles that rocked election of County Board officials a week ago.

According to the Senator, he was being wrongly accused of causing the chaos and had been ordered to pay Sh7 Million for property reportedly damaged during the fracas.

Sonko questioned why he was the only person summoned by the Disciplinary Committee due to the chaos yet there were other leaders involved.

The Senator alleged that he was the victim of the situation since his supporters were also attacked by his rivals during the election.

“Why are they summoning me alone whereas there were other leaders who had arrived earlier to start the fracas. They were even slapping aspirants who expressed their support for Sonko,” the flamboyant Senator stated.

He further expressed his disappointment claiming that there were some officials within the Party who planned to jeopardise his gubernatorial bid.

Sonko explained that he had visited the Lang'ata and Karen Police stations and ascertained that there was no report of any items broken during the election, therefore, he would not pay the money.

“Which is this destruction that was not even noted by the police. I have visited the police stations and ascertained that nothing was lost or destroyed on that day.

“I will not appear before any disciplinary committee because Tuju (Jubilee Secretary General) and Murathe (Jubilee Vice Chairman) are not investigators. I will not pay that money unless the police investigate and find me guilty. If they disqualify me I will shift to another party. NASA is also a party,” he declared.

Sonko is among leaders who had reportedly been ordered to appear before the Jubilee team in relation to disruptions witnessed during party events in Nairobi, Kirinyaga, Nakuru and Murang'a.
