Strathmore University Students Injured in Terror Scare

Panic gripped students at Strathmore University in Nairobi after sporadic gunshots were heard within the institution on Monday morning.

Students who were caught unawares scampered for safety with reports indicating that some sustained injuries in frantic run for dear life.

However, Lang'ata OCPD Elijah Maina confirmed the incident to be part of an emergency security drill conducted to test readiness of students and staff in the institution.

In a statement posted on their Twitter timeline, the school Administration said that it would cater for medical expenses of the injured students.

This comes after security agents were taken to task to train students in different institutions on how to respond in case of unprecedented attacks.

Several terror attacks have been orchestrated in the country leading to loss of lives and property, with the Government being blamed for lack of preparedness.

In April 2, 147 students lost their lives and scores injured after Al Shabaab militants attacked Garissa University College in the wee hours.
