Student in Sex and Drugs Bus Saga Charged in Court

One of the 40 students caught in a bus engaging in indecent acts and with drugs was arraigned in court today.

The form four student from Kanyama Secondary School in Nyeri County was charged with possession of bhang.

The court heard that the 18-year-old girl had hidden bhang, matchboxes and tobacco hidden in her private parts.

The suspect pleaded guilty to the charges but claimed that the drugs belonged to a friend.

The story of secondary school students being caught in a bus with not only drugs but claims of some engaging in sex inside the bus took the country by storm on Wednesday.

The bus was intercepted by officers from Sagana traffic base, as it was heading to Nairobi, taking the students home for the August holiday.

Yesterday, the bus' tout and driver were arraigned in court and charged with various offences.

The tout -Justus Momanyi- was charged with not wearing a uniform whole at work.

Daniel Mwaura -the driver- on the other hand, was charged with ferrying 41 passengers in a 33-seater bus, carrying uninsured passengers and traveling beyond Nairobi as permitted.

The driver was slapped with a Sh45,000 fine, while the tout's fine was put at Sh40,000.

The girl charged today was taken back to remand at Sagana police station.

She is set to be brought before the court on Tuesday again, alongside reports from the school and a probation officer.
