PHOTOS: Bomb Scare at Canadian Embassy in Nairobi

A bomb scare was on Thursday morning reported at the Canadian High Commission in Gigiri, Nairobi.

Confirming the reports, Gigiri OCPD Vitalis Otieno said that Limuru road had been blocked following the alarm and motorists were advised to use alternative routes.

According to reports, a suspicious parcel believed to contain explosives was spotted at the Commission.

Experts from the Bomb Disposal Unit were promptly deployed to the scene.

The Embassy sent an alert to its employees yet to arrive at the premises asking them to keep off.

“The Canadian High Commission is currently off-limits. All Core Business Staff, Locally Engaged Staff and Spouses not currently at the Canadian High Commission are to remain at home. Update to follow,” the alert read.

Update:

After investigations, the bulky parcel was discovered to be harmless, containing official forms.
