Teacher 'Kills' Class 6 Girl Over Sh40

A primary school teacher was in Monday arrested for allegedly causing the death of a class six pupil.

Dickson Isidi, a teacher at Kiserian Primary School allegedly canned Loise Wanjiru, 11 and pushed her to the wall before she collapsed.

Isidi who is sponsored by the Parents Teachers Association (PTA) is said to have punished Wanjiru for not paying a Sh40 Saturday tuition fee.

Confirming the incident, Ngong OCPD, George Seda said that the teacher rushed the deceased to St.Mary's Church Medical Centre but doctors referred her to the Kenyatta National Hospital where she was pronounced dead upon arrival.

While addressing the press on Monday, Mr Seda said that the Criminal Investigation Department was leading the investigations into the death of the pupil.

Kajiado North Member of Parliament (MP) Joseph Manje assured that the matter would be probed to the end.

“This is not a small matter and considering that the government had banned corporal punishment on students, I want this case to be investigated to its conclusion. We want to see her postmortem report so the police can determine the direction of the case at hand,” Komen is quoted by the Star.

Residents of the area held protests on Monday while baying for the teacher's blood but police intervention managed to control the situation.

Isidi who has already recorded a statement with the police is being held at the Kiserian Police Station.
