These Are the Teachers Who Could Lose Jobs - TSC

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has issued a strong warning to teachers involved in exam cheating that has stained the ongoing Kenya Ceritificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination.

The teacher's employer said that those found linked with the criminal offence would be dismissed from duty promptly. Reports indicate that several tutors have been arrested following the exam leakages across the country.

Education Cabinet Secretary Jacob Kaimenyi yesterday during a meeting with the Education Committee, unveiled that two police officers, 79 students and 13 teachers had been nabbed for involvement in the examination irregularities.

Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) boss Joseph Kivuli, however, insisted that the questions on nabbed papers were not genuine but confirmed that five teachers and several university students had been arrested for propagating examination malpractices.

KNEC has been under pressure to suspend the exams but firmly stated that they would go on as scheduled.

At the same time, Education Committee Chair Sabina Chege blamed the police tasked with guarding the national examination papers for the malpractices, a statement that the National Police Service Commission dismissed in a press statement.
